C&J in my mind make the best looking shoes in the UK and therefore the world. The combination of refinement and balls is a lesson to girlymen eurotrash everywhere. Americans might have Allen Edmonds but they dont have the breeding.

Don't get me wrong I love the log... I'm all about the log. But I'm not deluded enough to know when the log is superseded aesthetically by the touch of genius . America is functional and practical, Italy is spineless and girly, only in Britain did the world of the artistic Celt clash with the genes of the mechanically minded Saxons, the warrior mentality of the Viking and then had lashings of hot West Indian poured on top for effortless cool.

The Scots win overall on elegance though if we have to name a country.

I didnt know any of this I was just going from what I saw and Im typically just drawn to the classic stuff and their shape. Havent a clue about quality with higher end shoos as I dont like to torture myself by looking that much

The real issue with the elegant rtw shoos of higher quality is that people with crazy feet find them hard to get a good fit all day long. My feet are pretty ordinary, and super elegant shoos like Anthony Cleverley only work 80% of the time. My foot can change much during some days, and other days they don't change shape too much. On many days l can wear my A.C all day, but on the days when my feet expand a lot l will need to take them off about 6 pm. My John Lobb has been fitting great, but the other day l had a real foot change and my feet expanded more than normal and the J.L fit no longer worked after 9 pm. The rest of my shoos are great, but these two elegant lasts are fussy and do not work for my feet when they expand too much. Sizing up doesn't work either. It is solely a last issue,it doesn't quite work for feet that expand too much. Other shoes leave more room, so there is more room for crazy feet to change shape without size restriction.

It makes choosing shoos hard when trying to make allowances on how a foot will change during the day, and it takes extreme oaying attention to fit and visualising how they would fit under various changes in the shape of the foot. You really need to know your feet and carefully observe how they change hundrerds or thousands of times, so study your feet every day because this really helps with many things such as find an ideal fit. But sometimes we go against our instinct because the shoos feel so good and fit so well in the shop, but feet can change shape and suddenly those good fitting shoos don't fit so good, and if we don't take it off our feet will start to hurt. There is no excuse for having shoes that hurt. Shoos are funny things...they are great when they fit well, but they are a bastard when they hurt like f***, and no matter how nice a shoo may be, a shoo that hurts is a shoo that sucks because it re-opens memories of pain LOL. But, if you get a shoo like AC and can get a good fit most of the time, you learn to plan how to wear such a shoe, BUT such habits should never be done if one can help it. MESSAGE = if the elegant lasts don't work and make your feet hurt like buggery, stop buying them stupid. I am not worrying about the super highend rtw English anymore except for an occasional Edward Green.
