^ hahaha.
Those 'old amphetamines' don't mature well and can do weird things
Haven't touched them since I sprinkled a newspaper wrap of amphetamine sulphate into a glass of Coca Cola at an all-nighter in Bolton in 1984. What was in that stuff? Little wonder I have suffered premature hair loss… Now back to my Nespresso.

The picture of the African couple dancing is by Malick Sidibe, a contemporary of Seydou Keita, and also from Mali. I have some great pictures of his subjects in Paraboots, white socks and loafers, blazers - all the paraphernalia of classic Western dress which had filtered into Mali via the colonial route in the 1950s. i'll try and get some on Cowards Alone!
Ah, yes! Sure, I used to check that old website regularly. You see, I'm not a regular JS customer and I'm not part of some clique or so. I've only been to the new John Simons once, and I've only been to the Covent Garden shop twice. I'm quite happy to play the archivist here.

Hank - great memories - thanks a lot. I'd forgotten most of that stuff. Your talents as an archivist are wasted - you ought to work at the Bodleain Library or suchlike! All the best, John
If you like that check out the german label Analog Africa and their website..lots of pics and reissues..just don't take the sartorial cues from the 70s..also check out SE Rogie he had a pretty cool style during the 60s..he was an exponent of Palm Wine music a style that grew out of SL.
