Re: The Tom Bell-Drier Thread!

I have the Trickers malton boot as well- fantastic boot and indestructable - I sent them to an old town cobbler to have metal studs affixed to the sole.

since then -I have walked through - cow shit- horseshit- sheep shit- chicken shit -(very sticky stuff) and never once felt like I was going to slip.

I do draw the line at dog shit though ( a little too pungent)

I should point out that I don`t deliberately walk around looking for Animal shit to step in -It`s just in the country there`s mountains of the stuff and it`s sometimes difficult to avoid.

Quite a lot of mud also .

with the Malton boot- a quick wipe over to remove the debris a coating of polish and a buffing and you would never know.

although I suspect my boots are a touch more "fragrant" than Tom`s.

Ah to walk in the footsteps of giants- indeed

... ... ...

Re: The Tom Bell-Drier Thread!

Chums,

much thanks for the discussion of the Tricker's Boot.  I'll have to look into this one, as I've wanted to get some of their stuff, and regret not doing so when I was outside the shop in London a few years back.

Tom:  welcome.  You've got a lot of problems, obviously.  But I've been enjoying your contributions, and look forward to more.

Cheers,

H.

Re: The Tom Bell-Drier Thread!

I see, sorry for the over sensetivity, I thought for a moment I had committed some terrible faux pas.

or perhaps the fact that you were aware that the plumbing at home is causing me no end of problems, have you seen the cost of a half decent plumbers hourly rate, he`s talking about stripping out all the old lead piping and replacing with copper, it`s going to cost a small fortune.

Having filth deep in the little holes (broging) on your brogues is highly desirable in the country, is it not?

Adds to the patina & all that.
