Warm Greetings to the membership and readership of Film Noir Buff.
After a suitable sabbatical from the drama of internet message boards, I have decided to make an indefinite return.
I have noticed that some former colleagues are present here; some I recognise by virtue of their using their traditional screenames, and some by inferences from particular writing styles. Despite my public quarrel of last year on the Trad forum with the prolific gadfly Russell Street, who I am now to believe is jack_sparrow, I hope we might endeavour to strike a truce of convenience. Civility is an integral element of gentlemanly discourse, after all.
To others I have known on these fora, who may not technically be members here, I issue fond salutations from my new home. I regret having departed so abruptly, though, I hasten to add, the impetus was not entirely volountary, nor especially dignified. I was in error, and apologise to any who may felt themselves wronged.
I look forward to enjoying the ethereal company of such gracious gentlemen once again, and hope that I might rekindle some of the fond friendships I developed in mutual pursuit of our love of fine clothes.
Yours all,
Philip

Hello Fogey-I`m relatively new in these parts myself-but liking it an awful lot-there are some smashing chaps hereabouts- Uncle Jack Sparrow has really taken me under his wing and helped me settle in .
If you like porn he has some super links to the most unusall and varied types of sex I have ever seen.
I`m sure if you and he are willing to bury the hatchett - he would be willing to send you some of the links-truly fascinating stuff.
with the name username Fogey I assume this is the area of clothing that intrests you ? if not please forgive my presumtiousness ( is that a word)
whatever the case welcome.
Hello Fogey, nice to see you back.
Ahhhhhh - Mr. Fogey...
I've been expecting you...
Very good to see you back. Welcome.
And so another name is crossed off my list.
Soon all the other forums will have left will be an endless parade of posters saying "Great look, Squire - Way ta go!!!" and "Judging from your photographs I would suggest that you extend the left shoulder by 3/8ths of an inch and lower the gorge by a similar fraction - Any good dry cleaner should be able to do this for you."
We favour quality over quantity over here as you know.

Thank-you, gentlemen, for your warm welcome.
Mr Bell-Drier, I presume? It is indeed good to see you too. However, I am directed by honour to refrain from elaborating those circumstances which, on a cold December day, eventuated in my departure from Mr Gilchrist's lovely forum. My intention in this specific matter is to focus upon the future, rather than on the past. Knowing my nature, however, one can rest assured that in virtually all other matters I will continue to convey my retrospective worldview.
Voltaire's Bastard - charming name and avatar. Do I know you from before?
Mr Sparrow - Thank-you for your broad-minded courtesy and for the engaging wit. It was indeed your thread about a fogey topic' that prompted me in my recent 'lurking' to re-join the fray. To this extent I owe you a bit of gratitude, since heretofore I had no intention of returning except as a reader. I look forward to fruitful discussion with you and others about the lifestyle and traditions of the English Fogey. One also hopes that some of our correspondents from the original Fogey thread at Andy's will be similarly enticed to return.
forgive my abruptness, wasn't your first or second cousin a piano player?

Hello again Fogey,
Good God, do you mean to say this place is a club?
Would ties be fogey? If so, which ones? What makes the necktie more fogey than Trad? Is it the style or simply the way it is worn. I did so miss these threads...
Welcome fogey. had enough of BBR eh?
Foges,
were you the one with the title and the entry on Johnny Interweb? I think wikipedia they called it. Some mob-ruled Encyclopaedia or something.
Fogey,
I hope to learn from you as I do from Jack and Cheeky. I love Barbours, do you own one?
Mike - You're Peppy & Preppy as we know, but where do you stand on 'Fogey'?
Why not?
I just wondered if it interested you at all. Preppy is more youthful isn't it?
Even 'Young Fogey' is still a bit of a grown-up business.

Make this man your master, Mike.
Study him closely and well.
Is he real or not? - We just don't know.
But he puts on a good show anyway.
