Arguably even print doesnt do painting any justice..i think back lit screens just dont do the same as print, paint or dyes.
Indeed. That was one of the points Roy Lichtenstein was making with his paintings of cheap print cartoons.
I think he made a good point about composition in his work. Ie he would go through these comics with a view finder and crop images by eye to his preferred proportions and then paint them up altering things as he saw fit.
I think he had a very good eye for composition and did take comic art into high art by that process alone, Im not sure that that comic artist that sued him thought as much.
