The daily telegraph is the fogeys- newspaper of choice www.telegraph.co.uk
ever since that brash and uncouth- colonial Rupert Murdoch took over ownership of the Times www.timesonline.co.uk
middle class and middle England fogeys prefer the dailymail because it has lots of salacious gossip about the Royals www.dailymail.co.uk
A fogey would never buy the sunday sport -but if the roofer who is undertaking repairs on their house- left a copy lying around he may have a quick flick through- particually the letters page- he feels it keeps him grounded and in touch with the man on the streets opinion and he has no intrest at all in the scantilly clad ladies
www.sundaysport.com
There`s another thing- a fogey allways needs repairs doing on the house.
It should also be noted a fogey would never refer to his house as a home , it is allways a house.
CM,
In Canada I think the Globe and Mail may be fogey.
Michael
Are you Canadian, Michael?
A very nice country I'm told - Lots of Scottish and French people up there.
I wonder if our families might be related?
My wife -has an old school friend named Joanne - who is a keen entertainer of the navy-she claims to have entertained most of it - well those members of it who are based around Plymouth or have ever docked there -or those who have ever drank there- or come to think of it those who have ever caught the bus from there- she`s an entertaining gall is Joanne.
The urban ,fogey shines his, sausage , while ,the country fogey, fries his ,sausage?
Flatulance is very fogey - however decorum prevents any of the parties present mentioning it.
flatulence in the lady is often accompanied by the soft and gentle clearing of her throat - chhchhgh as a distraction.
the idea of holding wind within however is abhorent to the fogey-for it leads to putrification of the internal organs .
Michael I like your new signature- Shakespears HenryV proclaimed the singing of this after the battle of Agincourt the English translation would be -Not to us O lord not to us but to your name give glory- excellent work michael - very fogey.
my signature -vicit agnus noster eum sequimur -has it`s origins also in christianity -it is today commonly associated with the Moravian church - the official name of which is Unitas Fratrum- unity of the brethren of which my familly have strong historical conections =my mothers linage from the Zinzendorfs www.zinzendorf.com- Count Nicholas ludwig von zinzendorf was her great great great great great Grandfather- Her branch of the familly came to England to set up a moravian settlement in Yorkshire called Fulneck- (do a wikipedia search on Fulneck more will be revealed there) - which in essence was a small settlement with schools for Moravian followers.
any way back to the chase the English translation is -our lamb has conquered let us follow him- which with uncle Jacks current plans for rejoining AAAC- Andy trad -I thought would be a fitting tribute to him.
But shh. don`t tell him it`s a surprise.
Thanks CM, I was thinking more of the Knights Templar than of good ol' 'arry.
Awwwww! Thanks, CM.
No family in Portsmouth I'm afraid, M.
So I'm only your cyber uncle.
10.30 PM is a very Fogey bedtime both in town and country...
Have one last drink.
Write your diary.
Wind the clocks.
Make your way upstairs (Fogeys rarely live in flats).
Read for 20 minutes (Surtees? Chesterton?).
Kiss your Fogey wife. Once.
Roll over.
Snore.
...Tomorrow is another Fogey day...
Lusting after Doms` wife Jemimma -Isn`t fogey-but I can`t help myself.
scattering bread crumbs on the bird table in winter is fogey - which is what I did just 10 minutes ago-so I have redeemed myself.
I felt very fogey this morning when - a heavy frost covered the ground and I pulled a cardigan over my shirt and sweater- for an extra layer of warmth- until I had lit the fires.
I got my tenner from Dom. this morning, btw.
A Gent.
Nice result Uncle- I told you he was honest and reliable-granted in a very haphazzard manner.
I was speaking to him this morning actually - and he was telling me he was up and running over at AAAC- he has set up a couple of user names there - so goodness knows what his intent is - one thing I am sure of - he will be giving them the runaround in due course- haphazzard he may be- but he has a sharp mind- although with his dress sense -God only knows how he is going to come across as even half credible-but we will see.
Any progress on the other wager he laid?

^ Well, I still haven't landed the Dopey fish yet...
But my net remains open...
I think all the AAAT&C plans don't really need me - Dom. is storming ahead.
I have to say like the guy... TBD too... - Good work in both cases, CM!
