Bringing Rumpole back. I am into the last series set in the early 1990s. It is interesting how the mood of the series changes. The seventies clothing and sets seemed "browner" and more comfortable than the nineties which sees brighter colors in clothing but less variety and more economic concerns. The shows set in the seventies give the impression that people lived well on very little.
Rumpole is an interesting character waiting to be rediscovered. He is intuition vs. technology and humanism vs. enlightened self interest. McKern's voice is perfect for the role, crisp with just the right amount of involuntary drool backing up in his mouth. and that lady who plays Phyllida is sexy in her cold edged professional demeanor.
Bump for this topic.
Having emerged from my deep narcosis and as they pulled me out of the oxygen tent, I asked for the latest Turnbull & Asser sale and immediately purchased this:

It's time to be lightly seared by a little touch of that English Look.
^ I like that shirt apart from the triple cuff buttons, far too fussy, the antithesis of a collegiate look.
Aye, the three button cuff strikes me as verging on affectation, but nevertheless with a sports jacket on, one would likely get away with it.
The cloth is very similar to the one woody wears in the tube scenescene with a young Sylvester Stallone in Bananas.. I've always liked that cloth very much
I love these Repp ties T&A are doing...

Get some pics up Formby.
I like the look of a lot of the ties in vintage cloths that Passaggio Cravatte make, their prices not so much. David Wu makes the odd one as well.
Not Passaggio Cravatte, the scandal!
Scandal you say?...tell me more.
^Aye, a quick Google search on "Passaggio Cravatte + scandal" and it is to be found in all its sordid glory, a dastardly tale of false marketing and cutting up yellow-nicotine stained curtains from the 1970s and selling them off as some rare tie cloth last worn my Gary Cooper! Allegedly, I might add.
I am surprised he's still going after all the bad publicity, but then again, some of the ties might be quite alright, but who now is willing to take the risk? Not I!
Its even worse...some people have waited for many months for ties, many have sent them back to remade and waited again for an age. One chap ordered 4, got 2 and then waited another 6 months for the others. Worse case was a guy who waited a year and even one who was just got deleted from their FB page after posting about waiting for a few months. His favorite trick seems to be sending repeat emails saying their out of the cloth the customer ordered and can they pick another one, thus stalling his punter for months.
He's been sussed out on a few of the cloths used as not being vintage as well.
All in all a most sordid affair.
Can't fault you Bop...got some nice ties though.
