I quite like the Vass U-last shoes, it looks like it would be good for kicking the nationalists.
It looks like you can still get Vass shoes from that source in Germany. For those who missed the commotion, this whole controversy about price fixing starts on page 6 of this thread.

The AAAC thread has more or less deleted. Why the celebration? Did something perfectly scandalous occur? I certainly hope not, as I will be sorely annoyed if I missed a nasty dustup.
Their website is not working properly. It's ironic that Im generally the quality and beauty over propriety guy and I have to say this. It seems like too many ooh and ah over the quality and construction of Vass shoes. Some buddies of mine were telling me about a client who orders circus tent color and patterned suits. Theyre made terrifically too and the quality of the fabrics is beyond reproach.
I still think these shoes will be misunderstood by the Anglo-American mindset. Look, I love people from Austria and Eastern Europe (culture and female beauty there is at a high state of refinement. So, Id rather have an Austrian GF and English shoes rather than the reverse.) and they have their own set of valid tastes but for presentation in our western reality they are illadvised. Shoes, in some ways, carry more messages by their upper shape than almost any other part of the wardrobe. Even if you didnt care that much what people thought (consciously or subconsciously) these shoes are so unique as to make you look like you work in menswear in NYC. To a certain extent that's just fine because many of them dress well but being dressed well and being trusted or considered succesful in commerce or considered to be from a well bred background are distinctly differing things.
I wear some bold things myself but I am aware of the messages theyre sending out or I do my best to find out. All Im saying is that people who are interested in these shoes consider that and not go running out into traffic to buy them because theyre being ballyhooed by people whose stylistic tastes I consider working class.
I want people to bear in mind the image theyre broadcasting and what sort of role they play and what sort of persona they have and want to project. When I see a guy wearing a navy suit and light brown shoes, hed better have some confidence or Im going to assume he's a lightweight...or worse.
Im sure Gabor is very nice. From his viewpoint these shoes are of course the best and I believe he is being emotionally honest about their superiority. I wish him the very very best and I actually plan to check these shoes out one of these days and see if there isnt a model or last I can live with.
