Streamline Moderne is lovely....
The Midland Hotel is a great example...

...shame about Morecambe.
I knew it was Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier. Its a fantastic looking gaff from the outside, the stairway and the bathroom are the only two rooms I dislike in that building. The living room and terrace are superb. The glass between the two is a huge sliding door. The stairway in Villa La Roche-Jeanneret is far better. My favorite work by him is Weissenhofsiedlung. A lot of his work I quite dislike.
And yes, I did refer to a book of his works for spelling checks.
What a coincidence - I have just been there for the first time. Highly recommended.
Between the train station and the main square there is a small park ("park josipa jurja strossmayera") where there are little foodstalls and huts with local wines. Highly recommended. A serene and peaceful scenario, no lager louts or people with red faces wearing rugby shirts.
