I don't think I ever saw anyone my age in a roll neck jumper when growing up so have never worn one.
Another look I've never worn is the polo under the v-neck jumper, often seeing the polo open with the collar on the jumper. Thoughts on that look?

No they are not.
The V neck calls for a tie or scarf which makes the whole look too busy. The shirt collar under a crew neck looks cleaner.
