/\
Awesome. Thanks Stan.
Mind you, I'm wondering what version of 'Born Free' you're familiar with...

If this sounds familiar it's because it was ripped off by the neo-flapper group The Squirrel Nut Zippers for their single "Hell".
I've dropped this on two threads
Malcolm X & Keith LeBlanc - No Sell Out

Ha, oddly enough I posted it up on Yo! FNB just a few days ago - I clearly missed your other post, or might have foregone it. Amazing track, absolutely blew my mind when it came out.
^ I missed your drop of the tune McG, just found the post and I apologise for cutting in.
It's an awesome bit of work, seemed to draw from so many music 'worlds' (possibly unintentionally) at that point in time.
It could sit happily next to Afrika Bambatta or anything on Tommy Boy or 99 records, Cabaret Voltaire/Test Department on an 'industrial' vibe or some of the more esoteric 'dub' from the likes of Adrian Sherwood ( which is a little ironic considering Keith's later work as part of the On-U-Sound house band).
^ yeah !

Ha ha, was just thinking of him after listening your (deeply satisfying) Residents post on the covers thread. I was only ever familiar with the album sleeve, never the music, checking it out now. Thanks Acton!
^ It's got a great version of Kraftwerk's 'The Model' that'll pop up on the covers thread later (when i've found some youTube links to it's companion versions )
/\
You'll be throwing in Big Black's version too, I trust?
^
and maybe a little Senor Coconut ( but they only did it live and can't find a youTube version of it yet).
