The problem I had with it were the sleeves were mitred when they were turned up so I didnt have enough to let out to get the sleeve length right. I did however get to wear it to the synagogue a couple of times before we parted company
I can't remember what I bought from Zach. I do seem to recall selling him something once.
Anyway, it was a great idea, well-executed.
I have made various attempts to sell things and keep up with the thrift shops etc. and I found the whole thing to be a colossal pain in the ass with a very small return and endless wranglings with nitwits who want measurements to the micro-millimeter, bills of lading from the cloth manufacturer, or answers to impossible questions such as "My Lord & Taylor suit is a 42R and it fits, sort of, except in the collar. Therefore, can I wear this madras jacket with brown pants?"
You should try get some of those golden original blazer buttons for it..with the rams head...it's an absolute beaut
A completely sublime Pendy, Standish. You a lucky man.
No wonder Zach closed shop. He was able to retire from Ollie's business alone.
In spite of the blanks, I bumped this for two good reasons. Firstly, it might have the effect of bringing Zach back into the fold, both forum-wise and selling-wise. Secondly, I always enjoy Patrick's slightly acidulous humour. It reminds me of my own selling experiences, i.e. a goodly percentage of people buying on Ebay are fucking imbeciles, whether it's clothing, comic books, vinyl, whatever. Not worth the grief. Having said that - and this is going to sound highly contradictory - we did manage to pay for a new garden fence and boiler, plus essential repairs to our old VW. But 'The Flash' attracts more attention than any mackinaw.
Why didn't this thread attract more interest?
