the fellow in the sunglasses rules. Too kool for skool!
^the ChemE pics are great. In addition to the more serious dress, the group is not very smiley compared to what a group pic would be like today. The clock is a bit curious - it's in each pic at 12:12.
ah the ol' raccoon coat. When Trip & I & the other ol' chums were prepping together, we'd often go to the Harvard/Yale games in our father's hand-me-down Rackers coats. Such were the days. I hear they're making a come back.
Nice recent additions.
But would you say that all reflect the Ivy look?
Some tend more towards the IBM/monochromatic look of that era (as frequently seen in the Rock Hudson movies of the time)...blue or gray suit, blue or gray tie, white shirt.
Superb photos Tony V. The last are definitely high school students of the 62 - 66 era - just before my mob rolled into school.

A subtle thing that I have noticed in all of these photos is the lack of a 3/2 roll to such an extreme extent that the top button is plastered flat against the body of the jacket. I guess you could call the rolls in these photos more of a '2 1/2' roll but I'd like to think of it as a 3/2 done correctly.
It's amazing how grown up those 'possible high school students' look.

the kid on the far end are ROCKING it. Is that a uniform of some sort? But I dig the heavy plaid jacket (with extreme front quarter cutaway) with solid trouser. The slim tie was de rigeur of course, and the trouser is cut the way I like to wear mine. Is the kid on far left also wearing cuban heels on his chelsea boots (that's how it looks to me)?? He's set to dance on Ready Steady Go!
I'd sell a kidney for a madras jacket like that. Reminds me of a jacket Roger Daltry is wearing in a very early photo of the High Numbers (The Who) in the Barnes Mod book. I also like how almost all of the jackets in the photo are natural shoulder 3/2s but there is still a bit of waist suppression. Though this might be less do to tailoring and more to the fact that these kids are probably wearing suits that were supposed to last them for a while.
Call me crazy, but do the kids are the far left and far right look identical? I don't just mean in terms of dress either.

OK Jack, now what do you think of the other photos?
In particular, re. Coolidge's comments?
