Brown Cord blazer
I have a couple of corduroy sportcoats, one in dark brown, and one in a british khaki color. They are very comfortable, and I am going to be wearing them quite often. What combinations have you found to work well with these options, both trousers and shirts, etc.? I love the jackets, just a little unsure of what will work well. Thanks.

Chum,
Jeans and khakis are old standbys, though I prefer the former. Depending upon the the shade of brown or tan, don't discount greys, in worsted hard finishes (nice contrast with somewhat plush but not too plush cordo wales) or flannels. Also, the ol' whipcord, like that from Filson in olive or tan or even grey. You could also do a herringbone or donegal flecked tweed. The latter grey based with a touch of brown, and slight flecks o' orange.

Wearing an old Press Cord sack today. Lower patch and flap pockets. Tobacco brown color. Love it.
Goes well with what Horace said. In fact, I'm wearing it with 501s, a Tattersal BD and saddle oxfords.
Cord jackets are screwed up by so many (see J. Crew and the like) but, when done well, can be very versatile.

Jack,
Definitely Pre-'94 though I don't know when exactly because it was a hand-me down. I'll try and find out.
Tattersal is Broadcloth--white base with navy, sky blue and a caramel brown
Oxfords are indeed brown/cordo and are old Polo RL
30+ year old Abercrombie and Fitch belt, also a hand-me down.
Sky Blue Polo RL cotton socks
Let the reformation begin!

I have a medium brown RL cord coat that I like to pair with a Pendleton Olive/Burgundy wool shirt and 501s. Or a blue button down when I’m out with the wife. I like this look so much that I’m on the prowl for a 2nd cord coat in dark olive/espresso brown.

I reckon Grayson might be right that dark brown is better for evening, but if I could only have one cord jacket, I'd go with the ol' standard tan. It's the classic American style I think.

thanks for the update. Johnny Frenchman is indeed a strange beast, though I admire the idea, in theory, of combining the different cords.
Monoprix can be a real gem. Not only for cheap plonk (was there ever one place where one could find so many decent bottles of wine for 2 Euro?), but for some clothes, I found.
the ol' Bon Market, had a good selection of Falke/Dore Dore socks which I've been taken with. Even with the 'orrible exchange rates of late (for me) still about parity with the price in the US.
Please keep us advised on more trends, developments on the Street.

THE WALL OF SOCKS in the Bon Marche is a thing to behold fo' sho'.
Never seen the like in London (Harrods used to come the closest).
Lots of caps on the streets I notice (often in cord too), rather than hats with a capital 'H'. But more on that later...

It's a Cordo Weejun look-a-like with a (what-do-you-call-'em?) kicker ridge at the back. Looks like squashy Quoddy style shit in the photo, but in real life they are sturdy little fellas. Nice. Good Euro copies of the US style. However, imported Sebago remains the US style loafer of choice over here (again, 169 Euros).
