Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Agree, I have a brown pair already Harpo so a black pair will be a great addition, any idea where I can get a similar style lace to replace these?

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Nice, thanks Tom. Nothing wrong with the 1980s (relating to weejuns, here). As long as they don't have the current 'shine' and they fit then I'm happy.

Tommy, I've worn my Fog 4 times in the past week.  The weather here has been completely English.

Lovely pair Sid.

Oli, good score, little else like 'em and a beautiful loafer.
Even the later ones are worth grabbing for that 'cobra vamp' look.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Now I just need a pair in black shell!

I've read that the last runs a bit wide and that it's recommended to size up from standard bluchers or any solid Goodyear welted double soled shoe... any experience?

I'm typically an 8.5D in Royal Imperials for instance, but lucked onto this pair of 9C's and the measurements seem to stack up. The seller claims that he wears a 10.5D in Florsheim bluchers and an 11B in Yumas. I'm sure I can make these work... I expect that at worst, they may need a little stretch in the width, which shouldn't be a problem even with cordovan.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

^ Oli, I've had success both 'sizing up in a narrower fitting' and 'sizing down in a wider fitting'.
It's a very forgiving shape of loafer partly due to the high vamp.
