Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

Deliverance: the Dueling Banjos scene: the loose-limbed old man dances a mountain jig when the Kid from Deliverance really gets going, and there's a nice shot of his Red Wing-type moc toe boots as he's dancing ......

can't find pics but the boots are nice and very rugged

Links are a bit shabby too. What was the film?

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

I watched an old De Niro film during the week called "The Last Tycoon" Directed by Elia Kazan. There's a few nice ensembles throughout the film.

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

Indeed. Not a great film but there's some top notch clothes.

No clue about the browser issues. I just go to postimg.org and click to upload. There seemed to be some trouble and temporary downtime with their site the other night, which may have caused problems for some of you.

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

I use Photobucket. Not great, but it seems to work pretty consistently. Thanks for the links, though. I don't mind clicking through to see the images.

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

I don't have a screenshot, but in the new Aziz Ansari Netflix series there is a shot of his closet and on the shelf are a bunch of Alden boxes. Not exclusively ivy, but pretty damn close. The rest of his wardrobe is too J. Crew, though.

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

Not sure if you guys are keen on post-1960s computer stuff but I can see Oliver's photos from both the methods he used. They show as broken img links but I can see them using an image viewing app on my browser (Chrome). With the app, I just hover over a link and it shows me the image. I'll look up the name of the app if anyone is interested in it. It works for me, at least.

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

Saw Sunday Bloody Sunday last night, and as well as the fun of marvelling at London 40 years ago, Peter Finch has a nice selection of peach or blue BDs in every scene where he's not in a dressing gown

Re: Unexpected Ivy in movies

Spotlight, a newsroom drama set in Boston ...

the ocbds are worn by the investigative reporters and editors but they're paired with horrible pleated khakis

Caramba that's a depressing loser look

Raises interesting questions about the value of wardrobe verisimilitude

the reporters in real life dressed poorly and therefore they have to be dressed exactly the same way in the movie?

a pair of flat-front khakis would be taking too much artistic license?

the worse the clothing the greater the reporters' commitment to the story?

It would have been better if the newsroom had featured a couple of guys who dressed like Patrick and the Derminator
