Natch.

And:
"Abbey Books, 29 rue de la Parcheminerie, Paris, France
This store is run by an obsessive Canadian bibliophile by the name of Brian. His national pride is immediately clear from the enormous Canadian flag out front, and he'll offer you a cup of coffee sweetened with maple syrup the moment you step inside. Abbey is absolutely crammed with good books and has the best selection of titles by Canadian authors outside of Canada"

Is Whitman still alive? What a crank. I've met that guy several times. He once asked me, years ago, to bunk with him in one of his rooms after I bought a book on America and the Cold War, which he apparently approved of. He used to "stamp" your purchase if he approved. He also would decide whom to sell to. Sometimes he'd insist on speaking French to the English-speakers and English to the French. If he really liked the book you wanted to buy, and there weren't any copies left, sometimes he wouldn't sell it to you. Great bookstore though.
I can't think of another city that I'd like to live in full-time than Paris. Provided I was fluent in the language, which unfortunately, I am not. In my experience, it's probably one of the best cities for quality of life.
There's something to be said, too, for French women, naturally.

Sylvia Beach Whitman now runs the shop - George's daughter named after the original owner from those Hemmingway days when the shop was around the corner.
Same business, different people, different premises.

Another French Ivy inspired brand like Paraboot & Fairmount which I first saw in London's 'J. Simons' (unlike Fairmount, but like Paraboot) -
Hartford Shirts:

30% off now at the Bon Marche - Lovely soft-collar broadcloth BDs in some lovely soft stripes, soft blues on white especially.
(I've been spending money again...)
Fantastic French Ivy stuff over here (a hangover from 'Minet' days?). Mainly cheaper than London & good quality brands which the US know little of.
A world away from Trab.

THE WALL OF SOCKS is a thing to be photographed against.
I have.
You?
Lesbian frenzy party nights are wonderful because nobody bothers you (if you are male). A unique & golden situation.
You can drink, dance a little, chat to passers by, and because you are of no interest to anyone you can interact with them on a higher level (I think).
I like those BIG girls who'll buy a chap a drink too.
PS - Ban, what ban?
I've started again.
Uncle Jack what is the equivelant of a "beard" in lesbian circles?
But they're Lesbians -
Their secrets are their own.
I know these Ladies only as tough-talkin' Honchos...
Nice.
Shame people aren't so enlightened over here in the US...
