I'm quite taken with Andover's selection of waistcoats.
As far as I know, my other mainstays don't sell them.
Is there anyone besides Andover who sells tasteful odd waistcoats...windowpanes, or reds, or creams?
I love Andover, but if I can shop around and see other choices, that's great too.

Check all the usual suspect English names maybe?
Odd waistcoats are very Anglo-Trad.
I had one , made to look, like William Cutting, in Gangs of New York. Now I, need a moustache.
The 'Dover will make you one out of any fabric. They've got a guy who cuts waistcoats. And a trouser maker. Go to Cambridge and check out the cloth, if you're looking for something special.
When would you wear an odd waistcoat?
I think wearing the variety in Andover's catalog would be perfectly normal with a suit or jacket in cooler weather.
Calcutt and sons provide some rather nice -well made waistcoats to the British hunting fraternity www.calcuttandsons.co.uk-I have their tattersall waistcoat in yellow and red and really couldn`t be more pleased-bloody good stuff
( both about 18 years old red one has had to be repaired due to a drunken accident with a barbed wire fence)
For further information on excellent sources of waistcoats -you could do worse than drop this fella a line- take a look at some of his waistcoats and you will find yourself wondering if he is an Anglo relative of the Squires (AAAT)
www.thewaistcoatman.org.uk
on his links page he has many sources for the purchase of waistcoats.

Sorry - didn't mean to be such a spoil sport.
I've wanted for a little while now to try a 3-piece but really haven't been able to see how I could work even that in.
Same thing with braces. I'd like to try the look but don't want to own a pair of high-backed trousers.
This probably sounds off or naff to some of you, but I think a mid to darkish grey flannel with a navy blue worsted vest might actually look pretty good. White shirt and dark solid blue tie.
Where odd waistcoats are concerned, the plainer they are the more flexible they are. I have one muted plaid, and the rest are solids -- I will wear them with either odd jackets or suits. I will probably get a tattersal soon. Purely a November through March proposition, I think.
