Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

How are the 90s BBs? Found one on Ebay but I don't know how they stand against the 60s ones.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I have one shirt that I know is from the 90's. A Hilfiger OCBD...and she's got a roll you could drive a bus through. Nice light Oxford cloth. Great in the summer.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Not sure I have any 7-button that aren't Oxford.  But they're all legit.  But yes, I'm talking strictly Makers here...

Even being a Makers isn't a cast iron guarantee of dickety dawg collar proportions, they varied in later years.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I ended up selling some 90s Makers BD sports shirts due to undersized collars. AC has had a similar problem, including with end on end.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I think most 90s Makers BDs are fortunately OCBDs/pinpoints which as I said earlier are (afaik) all ok.

Sancho if you want you can send me the link and I will give you my opinion. I think we might be the same size so if it looks particularly good I'll resist temptation.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I meant you could PM me, to avoid any lurkers picking up on it. Anyway to me it looks like a pinpoint too, although I'm not 100%. I find pp can be a bit sweaty in hotter weather but they do look good. The 7 button are pretty nice with a tie and tweed and/or under a Shetland. They also look tasty without a tie and/or another layer. In fact I've got quite a lot of pinpoints, all but one of which are 7 button. Not my favourite shirts but still pretty decent, and in all probability a hell of a lot better than anything you'll see anyone else in. If going cheap then well worth the investment, even taking into account shipping and possible customs.

(In fact I've got 3 ecru Makers pinpoints, 2 blue, 1 pink, 1 white and 1 white with blue stripes. Plus maybe a half sleeve. My least favourite Makers but I still like them a lot.)

Dig the crazy colors on this 1950's Scottish wool Brooks Brothers v-neck - it looks like it was woven for Donatello of the ninja turtles, haha

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1950s-Brooks-Brothers-Scottish-100-Wool-V-Neck-Sweater-size-medium-/121811101400?

I'd wear the hell out of it with a heavy white Makers in a thick loose oxford weave!

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

There's an interesting size 16 sportshirt (6-button placket, 3-button collar, center back pleat) on etsy right now... send a p.m. if you're curious.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

Yeah, no, not now if it's a pinpoint. I can NEVER get a good roll on it + I don't own a single white OCBD, I really think that that's a staple item and therefore I should just get one...
