Khaki colored dress trousers

Am I wrong to want a dressier alternative to a washable khaki pant? Most of the wool dress trousers I own are, admittedly, not of high quality. Most are a year round wool weight and the color tends to be taupe-ish at best. I am always tempted to wear a pair of khakis with my tweed sportcoats, but they dont seem dressier enough.

I know Bills makes a twill that is wool/cotton. Maybe this would do the trick. I still want the neutrality of the khaki color, but something between the drapiness of most wool and the casualness of a cotton chino. Flannel would be fine except finding the right color, and only being wearable one or two seasons of the year.

Any ideas? Please post links if possible. I dont mind spending the $$$ if garment is quality and will last. Thanks.

Try gabardine, which is available in a wide variety of neutral colors, including khaki, and textures.   It's a fabric that is sort of an upgrade from khakis and equally versatile.
