And I just found a Mercer blue OCBD in my size for $30 on ebay. This will be my first Mercer. So between that and the triple patch Mavest blazer, I spent $65. Just goes to show you that with Ebay, luck is just about everything. And I was very lucky finding those two. I will now resume my inability to find anything that fits me properly or is measured properly on Ebay!
Those are beautiful frames, Toliver.
I wish I could find some new old stock colored lenses with polarization like a dark brown or auburn hued and tinted heavy glass lenses... instead of the polycarbonate stuff that they use now. I guess polarized G-15 would probably look best with the "golden briar" color?
^
I can't help you much unfortunately. I initially wanted to get glass frames in my glasses, just for the sake of being more period correct, but they were quite a bit more than the plastic. The doc really talked me out of the glass. Just don't opt for the anti-glare treatment. Mine that have that are IMPOSSIBLE to clean and keep clean. They just smear like crazy.
^ My last (and final) pair of glasses had the anti glare treatment. Awful. Just awful. LASIK proved to be the wise choice.
No anti-glare, thanks!
How much more pricey were the glass lenses, WM? Prohibitively so?
No, it wasn't really prohibitively more. If it weren't for the doc endlessly going on about the benefits of plastic - mainly that they're less reflective, lighter and more comfortable - I would have gone with glass. He thought I was rather a nut for even mentioning glass. He asked me if I farmed. I said no and asked why he asked and he said in Iowa, or Idaho, or wherever he was from, farmers like glass lenses because I reckon they're stronger than plastic and more scratch resistant. I kid you not. Oh, and plastic is more versatile in terms of the frames plastic lenses can be fitted into. But obviously those frames would have had glass originally, so I wouldn't imagine glass would be an issue in that regard.

Both amazing finds, Bradley! The top one looks like 40s-50s Ivy with that lapel. It's wide, but it isn't that long sweeping wide lapel of the 70s era stuff. Very nice!
That's the "Topsman" Bradley. They both look to fit you very well.

US thrift stores... Feck me sideways. We are getting ripped off in the "Charity Shops" over here. Motherhumper.
That is a nice capped Oxford Derm and a bargain at $5.
Hard to say who made them by the pictures although if they are Pearl and co they are usually Crockett and Jones these days,.
There has been a suggestion that their more reasonably priced shoes are re branded Allen Edmonds.
The ripple effects sure look like shell to me, most other leathers would crease and crack rather than bubble.
Thanks everyone! I was thinking, after some research, either AE or Alden. And the creases do look like shell, from what I've found, since there are long wide creases and not spider creases.
Did AE ever make shell for BB?
Another clue that they might be Alden is the script is handwritten and actually looks more like Alden when compared to the AE script in internet photos. The "7" in particular has the curly top. Anybody a forensic handwriting analyst???! Also, has a serrated tongue, which looks like what Alden does.
However, it doesn't have the split widths written in like the Alden's I've looked up. The shoe was definitely re-heeled.
Thanks, again, everyone. Hope I didn't derail the Ivy finds thread too much.
