Re: WHY are you wearing...?

I never do this but: Cashmere Hickey Freeman sport coat in an elegant check that supposedly retailed for 1600 dollars but went for 125 at some Saks Fifth Ave. outlet store. It was mismarked as to size, an astonishing bargain. Alden tassel loafers sold by Brooks Bros. Bought at some sale during this decade. I didn't know my width. The older salesman at Madison Ave.  assured me these were the right fit. I didn't believe him but I bought them on trust. He was right.
An astonishing value in flannel pants made in Italy that Lord and Taylor sold last year. Incredibly luxe, in Feb. 07 incredibly cheap. I mean 60 bucks. I know this stuff. you probably paid $250 elsewhere.
A half price shirt from J Press that they are selling today. Stock from the 90s, the button at the rear of the collar, Oxford cloth as thick as a board. A tie from Brooks from the 1980s. It has obscure pheasants. and the Trafalgar cortina leather belt that Brooks used to sell and now you can get at Nordstrom. If it doesn't last a lifetime it will last over a decade.

Old Gap jeans
Grey polo
Grey socks
Black leather belt
Black Docs 4-holes
Akubra leisure time fedora

Walked with my son to a skate park to watch the spectacle. It's sunny and mild out, though the air quality sucks.

I wore a three button, medium grey flannel suit with a black calf belt, pink blue and white gingham checked shirt (French cuffs with a large blue ceramic circle cufflink)and a red solid tie with black cap toes. Kinda felt good today in Gotham's chilly air.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Tan suede chukkas, Brewin lovat green kilt hose, tobacco poplin trousers (bottom half of suit), mid-grey lanbswool crewneck with Marks and Sparks plain grey tropical shirt underneath, Zegna faux-tweed sports jacket and an almost black cashmere scarf. I love all those different shades of brown, and I have discovered mid-grey goes well with my ever whitening temples...
And it was fucking cold.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Thanks!

I wonder if 'swelled' & 'bluff' edges to lapels are just English tailoring terms?
But, yes you know what I mean - a row of stitching 1/4 inch in from the edge usually reserved for sportscoats.
The cloth is John G.Hardy from around the mid-90's, they did a greenish covert & a fawn one as I recall. Mine's the fawn.
Although Covert coats & hacking jackets are common over here you rarely see suits in the material unless you go racing a lot & even then they're pretty scarce... It is a little heavy maybe.
If I had the suit made again I'd have all the seams lapped inc. those down the outside of the trousers (I've just got the pockets of the jacket done) - I've seen Miles Davis in trousers like that & think I remember Mr. Grayson has some too. A nice detail.

Re: WHY are you wearing...?

Had a band rehearsal today. We all had a freaken great day. We've got a mega HUGE festival to play at (35,000 people) with some star line-ups shortly, so l was forced to borrow a certain muso friend to fill in for my recently departed key player. This guy was dressed unbelievable. He's 55, was dressed in tight black leather pants, a leather vest, a leather top hat, an ankle length leather trench coat, a huge cucifix, big gothic rings on each finger, rose coloured John Lennon glasses, pointed leather shoos, a studded belt, tatts, bright pink and blue platted hair at the back of his bald head. Dan is an amazing guy: he dresses like a freak, is super cool, and has 20 year olds begging him for closeness.

l was dressed alot less showy. l was in black Versace pants, a metal tee and black Grenson boots.
