I was talking with one of the regulars in the pub last night and we got to talking about slang words for things-he mentioned that it was a long time since he had heard-a certain part of a femails anatomy refered to as a quim-which I understand to be old anglo saxon.
now when I was at boarding school over 20 years ago you couldn`t have a schoolboy conversation about far fetched sexual shenanigans without overhearing the word quim.
But in recent years this word appears to be seldom used, and fallen out of vogue.
such a shame -it was a deliciously rotund and descriptive word.
I hereby announce that from this point on any refrence I make to a Vagina -I shall use the word Quim- for old times sake.
Snert is another term that has fallen into disuse. it was quite popular in the very late twentieth century on the internet. people provided various answers to the acronym, such as Snotty nosy egotistical retentive twat. i think it is time for its resurection.
Quim - "Cassell's Dictionary of Slang suggests it may be a play on the Welsh word cwm meaning a valley. The Oxford Dictionary of Modern Slang instead says: "of uncertain origin; perhaps related to the old word queme pleasant." The Oxford English Dictionary agrees with this speculative etymology and has references to queme in Old English meaning "pleasant or satisfying"..."
A very gentlemanly word therefore, Cheeky.
I like your idea of a gentlemanly pub crawl with Dominic too - I'll firm up dates ASAP & will wear my drinking trousers.
S'nice to be on a forum that isn't populated by embittered loners...
Have you lit your bonfire yet?
