Can't say i've ever been a fan of the spectator, just a bit too 'look at me' for my tastes, but sure you can make them work.

Goes without saying a lovely shoe.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Maybe a shot of you wearing it will actually show it off better as currently not sure what I am looking at?

Is it a coat, a jacket or what - looks like it has patch pockets, what's the fabric, looks like cord maybe from the label shot - any chance of a selfie in it outside?

^ for dating it, I think that's the second design of the Kent label from 1968-1974.

The original design in 1966-68 didn't mention VAN Jacket Inc on the label, but had the motto  " for the exclusive man " -
in a cursive scirpt/font at the bottom of the label.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Yeah I like the birdseye pattern too. I've always wanted a jacket like that. If you come across a pair of mid century Majer Slacks, they're pretty a safe bet too. I bought a deadstock pair in a tropical wool blackwatch pattern from Zach a few years back, size 32 with a 13.5" rise, that got butchered by an old tailor. I've been searching for a replacement since. This seller is my favorite on eBay btw! I've scored more gems from him (all for under $20!) in the past year than anywhere else; 50's Saks whipcords, Stanley Blacker herringbones, etc. He's got thousands of listings and doesn't discern between the good or bad stuff, plus he accepts any offer you throw at him; even when his prices are already discounted at 30% off. I'm gonna experiment next time and see if I can get away with a $10 offer. One could potentially open the next Newton Street Vintage caliber shop (well, almost... not quite) just by purchasing all of his Ivy League stuff wholesale!

Very fine import, T.  Can't wait to see them in action.

Looks like you'd better clear your schedule, put on the kettle, and warm up the old steam iron.
