Oh brother. One of the holy grails of the men's tailored world. I always thought that suit was a medium colored, bluish POW suit.  Be careful what you get made up, I am trying to wear out a darkest brown flannel suit which i hate. I dont think it will ever wear out, plus it's comfortable which is doubly annoying bc but for the color i would love the suit. No idea what i was thinking when I had that made up, mustve been watching too much Edward and Mrs. Simpson or color movies set in the 1940s.

That suit must be threadbare by now given how much it's been dragged through the mud that is men's clothing forums.

Re: Cart Grant's NBTW suit AGAIN!

astonishing info. and the answer is obvious. made in Hollywood, in many versions. England had lost a tailoring empire and has yet to find a role. (Dean Acheson reference here).

Oh, I disagree. that was one good suit. Or probably it was 12 good suits. without all the research, I would have said a suit from Hollywood that at least referenced to the 30s and 40s. But definitely an iconic article. No vents and Ivy league buttons? where did ya think it came from?

Nice.  Tuck in the ol' pocket flaps, for a bit of sleekness...

That Chipp suit illustrates, the corrupted natural shoulder which is common today.
But he still looks fabulous in the suit.
