They look like 40s workwear to me; probably the bottom half of some utalitarian mid-century uniform. I kind of dig them as casuals though. I can kind of see these worn with a pair of Purcells, a soft button down and an old cotton sweatshirt. Are they too janitorial looking?

Yeah, I doubt they're 1920's. I plugged a search for the label and followed a link to some vtg clothing forum where the same seller posted some photos and a single random person responded with that unlikely estimate. I think they're at least '40s on up; probably closer to mid-century. They look comfy as hell and kind of float somewhere between old French chore pants, U.S. Navy cotton sail cloth and white ducks. The specs sound good but I'm still not 100% sold on them...

Doubtful, just looks like it was some soda jerks or nurse's scrubs or janitor's uniform. Maybe even some nautical pants. I doubt they were sold as a fashionable item in department store.
