I'm with Bop. George was the most interesting one, in my opinion, as a songwriter and in his personal pursuits. He was also an excellent guitar player.
It wasnt untill I heard this tunes intro I realised what a massive influence Harrisons solo work had on Oasis..infact Noel did a remix of Be There by Ian Brown and Unkle that sounded very similar to this...with Spector behind the boards you get a great full sound with lots of soul power..
Waaah-waahhhhh

Please note, Im probably the biggest hater of Oasis there is...but I can certainly understand why any would be influenced to sound like George on this album..

One of my favorites. So much to love about that song. I can even tolerate Ringo's voice on the released single, although I'd much prefer George's voice, as in the above. The "woo woo" and then the "ahh" in the chorus is genius, as is the solo guitar part.
I dig out a Beatles record every so often and give it a spin. I know them all so well it's like a reunion.
And like a reunion, I don't want to hang around too long.
Although I agree with that, I still have very little drive to dig out any old Who stuff..apart from Baba O'Riley and Substitute Im really not bothered by their songs I was once given Live at Leeds and told this is the best live album ever..I cant even remember it...with the Stones however there are bucketloads of tracks I like to have on frequent rotation and they are more listenable than the Beatles too. Saying that I would pick the Beatles over the Stones if I could only listen to one of them.
I know it all sounds like a well played out arguement now..but what other bands can really lay claim to this level of following over the last 60 odd years. Incredible legacies for both of them..and still musically valid
Just a little factiod...the most streamed Beatles track on Spoitfy is Here Comes the Sun with over 20 million plays
I adored the Stones circa '71, when I discovered them as a kid, until around '78 with Some Girls. I can still stand to listen to the catalog from their Mick Taylor years and a bit around the edges of that. I still love Exile and Sticky Fingers in particular.
The Stones were more basic than the Who, less arty, and naughtier and scruffier than the Beatles. Partly, if you were a Stones fan, it was the attitude that was alluring.
When I talk music with friends, I often find myself almost apologizing for liking the Stones. I take pains to make it clear I like the Stones in their prime (which to me is about '68 to '73). Because, yes, they are an embarrassment, and have been since shortly after Some Girls.
I always thought the best move they could have made, around the time Taylor left, would have been to go down the alt-country route (known more as country rock back then) and do more of what they were doing with things like Wild Horses, Sweet Virginia, Torn and Frayed, etc. Become something like an edgier Flying Burrito Brothers.
Or, maybe even better, they could have gone way back to their roots and become a simple blues and R&B cover band. Give up the whole rockandroll circus, play small clubs, do what they did on the El Mocambo side of Love You Live.
