Jimmy Deucher - IPA Special
I had that wonderful nonchalant feeling on Friday:
C&J's black chukka boots, 1995 vintage
Navy Ralphy boy chinos
T&A spread collar, pink on sky blue, black chequered and stripe shirt
Really quite the scene beneath a tropical wool blazer I purchased from Darcy before she quit the internet selling malarkey
Seiko MarineMaster 300m the understated diver's watch with all the pedigree and credentials, but none of the embarrassing bling
Kala Winston specs with grey transition lenses in
A splash of Penhaligon's Bayolea
Off to the lawyers with a letter I wrote for them, not a bad game that, a couple of grand for use of your letter head
Back in the office and client looking for a 30% paycut and a rebate
Taking Christopher Hitchens advice and sticking on not upgrading to expensive whisky, a slug of Johnnie Walker Red before dinner
A bottle of superlative Chilean Merlot over dinner and watching Robert Carlyle's Hitler mini-series
Off to bed and up early, but still in PJ's and it's 3.30PM
Bollocks to it!
Interesting. I am trying to recall when I tasted my first Double IPA. I think maybe around 2004 or 2005. It was either a Stone Ruination or a Victory Hop Wollop, both of them now rather tame versions compared to all the strong stuff on the shelves now, many of which I'd say are more like triple IPAs.

I like having a bottle of La Phroaig around in the winter.
Famously, the only whisky to beat prohibition.
Grants or Ballantyne for an inexpensive blend
Glenmorangie at £25 is a commonplace buy superb value malt.
Herrold czech black lager at £1.25 lidl.
Spoons Monday for ales at a good cheap price. Need to pick the right one though.

It is so simple to have a nice day, you chumps at Ask Igor About Homos
How funny. We actually see it as a wino's tipple, not as something anywhere refined. Typical places to sip Asbach would be the Pommesbuden and Kneipen of the Ruhrgebiet, after a Currywurst lunch.
For some strange reason, Asbach esacped the Jägermeister retro/ironic cult, as it used to be another old men's drink. The same goes for Underberg (famous for using the Colonel Bogey March - of River Kwai fame - as the melody for their TV and radio commercials) and Düsseldorf's more leftfield Killepitsch. Actually, Underberg tastes even nicer than Aperol or Ramazotti, really worth a try. And its shot-sized bottles in 1930ies matte paper wrappers evoke some Wehrmacht/ammunition associations.

here is a quite cool mini review in English
Dont ask me why we go mad about white 'gus.
Underberg. That's bitters...
Bitter like a 45 year old single mom
I believe the white 'gus thing is pretty much a scam. Green ones, grilled, with tiny rack of lamb, eaten al fresco, wearing a rumpled white shirt/cream chino/loafers combo, sunny but not too hot, ideally some nice cars passing by (Scott's is the best place for that)...
Speaks volumes about the quality of brandy in UK
