Wrong on several levels, what must he be thinking? But then again, perhaps not......
If one is confident, one can wear anything.

I have to say, Americans take it to the next level with using convoluted language in order to sound intelligent, especially when they're just describing the obvious and mundane. I'd prefer if they just got a bit more poetic and less like legalese. Blurgh..
Yep. We're a lawyered-up nation of tight-assed accountants and businessmen, for the most part, and the poetic is suspect. Least ways, that's the way I see it.

I think we can all take some solace from that!
This is my fav line,
"I'm a social as well as a sartorial reactionary, so the retrograde subversiveness has always been part and parcel."
So really what he is saying is he only dresses trad because of need to be contrary to popular trend?
I imagine a lot of those guys are more Gatorade than retrograde..
^I picked-up on that line too, quite succinct and grandiose all at the same time.
And I believe him too!
/\ let him eat cake and then off with his head, all bases will be covered.

No but he is saying he is a social and sartorial reactionary... which to me suggested that if the common cause was conservative tradliness then he would zig to that zag...
Neither would I. Neither would I buy her sandals too small. Surely he can afford better footwear for his lady?

I've resisted all that shopping for the missus malarkey, let them roam free and get their own gear. Most women have an eye for the bargain, you can see this in their shopping patterns as they go round-and-round the aisles or from one boutique to another in search of the most cost effective, preferably in a sale, yet further reduced. They love it.
Truth. I will buy clothes for my wife as gifts on the appropriate occasions, and I mostly get it right, but we basically leave one another to our own devices when it comes to this kind of thing. Always much happier results that way.
I'm not even sure how to introduce this latest incarnation of lunacy on the old style forum we all know and love. There's an LOL in there, for sure. There's certainly got to be a WTF. Since the OP is an "advanced member," one can only assume he means it ironically when he posits that all of this will be useful. It does lead me to wonder, is there a surfer casual? If so, how does it differ from surfer ivy? Are there rules I should know about? If I show in surfer casual instead of surfer ivy (or surfer formal!), will I stand any chance of making it to the bar of your CC to order a pint of skunky old lager?
