What Stan says, but I will say my AE Walden pinch pennies are probably the heaviest penny I own. The Rancourts coming in close in the heft department. I get what you're saying about the older Weejens and such being sort of lightweight and perhaps "cheap" but this doesn't turn me off.

Also on my old Weejuns the vamp is a lot shorter than the ones above - it's only about a third of the length of the shoe, whereas with the old 30s and 40s Weejuns it's almost half. The LHS and Rancourts seem to have a long vamp too. A very big factor for me.

I came across some really short vamp Weejuns once. They were labeled my size, but I could barely squeeze my foot into them. I suspected maybe they were a female version???? The vamp was REALLY short.

When I got my vintage Weejuns in the old shade of brown that disappeared many years ago I thought I had loafer perfection, but I rarely wear them. In fact they'll be going on the for sale thread if I get some new pennies.

In loafers 8D I think. Well that is probably slightly too big but 7.5D in vintage Weejuns is too small for one of my feet - maybe I need to mix and match.

Well, if you went the Rancourt route they can do a perfect custom fit for you with a different size on either foot. But I guess that's not an option through JS.

Have you looked at any of the Northampton maker Yuca? Similar to the Alden but no penny style like the Rancourt.
Shame I am an 8.5US or I might have taken the ones you're selling.

Yuca ,the JS loafer is the Rancourt pinch penny with a custom penny cut out, black stitching and a leather sole.
I've been quoted $265 by Rancourt to get the same shoe direct in Horween color8 chromexel, which with current exchange rates and duty/VAT is still about £30 cheaper than the JS model.

Hmm interesting, thanks for the tip off. I've never been particularly keen on Horween chromexel but the leather for the pinch pennies certainly looks good in brown and no. 8. And cheaper too, although being custom made there would be no option to change sizes.
