Get the burgundy instead.
Thanks McG. Yeah, exactly. Glad I am not the only one that sees their attraction. Will see how I feel in a couple of days…a cooling off period is required!
Sounds good. I assume you have a pair? If so, did they stretch much? And how does the UK sizing compare with US sizing? They advised me to go half a size down from my US size, but in the end I ordered both a whole and a half size down, as too big is almost as bad as too small ime. Hopefully one pair will be snug but not uncomfortable.
I went 1/2 a size down as advised, a little snug at first but not uncomfortable.
4 months on and they fit like a glove and are as comfy as slippers.

JS Rancourts, soft, supple and comfortable. The quality is evident, treat yourself Yuca.
Damn sounds like all of us have the same shoes. Could make future meet ups embarrassing.
That's why I want the lizard skin penny's!
I struggle with loafers in general - just prefer a more sturdy shoe - but bought the JS Rancourts a week ago. Only done the corner shop run (well slow walk) in them so far. Breaking them in gently but they don't half look good. Was that gutted about the 30% sale that I got a pair of Paraboot Michaels on Sunday. That's me done on the shoe front for a long while!

They've arrived and are indeed superb. They definitely look more like the shoes at the start of the thread than my made in the US Weejun pennies or my made in the US Florsheims. They just look like really good quality shoes, and I may even start wearing loafers regularly. Going a full size down from my US size worked out for the best as the 7 is about the same as a US 8 imo.
Thanks for all the help. (Maybe one day I'll need a second pair of loafers, in which case I will give further consideration to the other great suggestions on here.)
As promised, 3 pairs of loafers (2 in US8 and 1 in US7.5) will be going cheap on the for sale thread soon. All vintage made in the US.
Great stuff, Yuca. Happy for you. Clothing nirvana!
Yuca, your next move should be a pair direct from Raincourt when/if* the £ recovers a bit against the $.
* delete according to your pessimism/optimism.
If I start wearing loafers on a daily basis that may become unavoidable, however I suspect I'll always be a gunboat man. We'll see.
