The only particularly Canadian coat I can think of is the HBC blanket coat and other variants thereof: http://www.northwestjournal.ca/XIII3.htm

Not what you had in mind, I'm sure!

Heavy sheepskin jackets are seen everywhere it gets cold. Lots of old skinheads used to wear shearling, and military surplus flying jackets were available once.

Capital chums.  As usually, 'Oward comes through with the details.  Jack, if you're feeling generous with the ol' sources,
feel free to oblige by PM'ing me that ol' Euro source.  I kinda/sorta would like to invest.

Cheers,

Aitch.

`Canadienne` Heaven!

I just went on the French ebay site and did a search under `canadienne`.These 2 pages are a selection of very reasonably priced canadienne style jackets currently on offer.(A few Sartre style offerings aswell!) .

http://search.ebay.fr/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=canadienne&category0=

For you personally Horace there are some sellers on this French Ebay site who will indeed ship to the `monde entier`.

I hope this may indeed be of interest...

Thank you for an instructive and great post as usual brother Jack  smile

Fantastic!

I always forget to look at Ebay...

Great work, Brother J. It really shows the different takes on this style from sheepskins to raincoat-type looking things

I'm expecting something a little like this but paler & in corduroy with a shawl collar.

I'll keep looking for my Sartre picture on the net...

This is a fragment of the pic - you can just see the collar:

Re: 'Canadienne' Jackets/Coats?

Interesting - Not sure I go for the darker collar... I like the paler ones, either slightly lighter than the body of the jacket/coat or the same shade.
Lots do seem to have the darker collar though.
I can't work out what the body of JPS's Jacket is made out of in my pic. - In different shots it looks like different things.
