^ oooh , could have slotted nicely in the "weird sounds" thread. 'Contact High with the Godz' (ESP-Disk 1037) has tremendous 'room clearing' properties
I've always found the story of how they formed is quite amusing ...
"One day Paul came over to visit them, and the three gathered in Larry's living room to smoke a joint." What happened next was purely accidental, according to Jim: "There were all these percussive instruments lying around and out of total frustration, I got up and started shaking a tambourine or something like that, and that's how it all started."
Lester Bangs on The Godz version of "The Whiffenpoof Song":
"Between the second and third albums, the Godz recorded a single that of course never hit anywhere but should have. Much the best thing they'd ever done, "Whiffenpoof Song" was a real rock 'n' roll record, full in sound, dynamic and driving as the work of a much larger group. It opened with a guitar flourish, then the sad lyric echoing pitifully in space: 'We are poor little lambs/Who have gone astray/We are poor little lambs/Who have lost our way.' Then suddenly 'BAAH BAAH BAH BAAAAAHH BAAH BAAH BAH BAAAAHH! BAAH BAAH BAH BAAAHH BAAAHH BAAAHH!!!'

Amon Duul's "Experimente" is another good one. Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music."
A bunch of NY/NJ people called themselves "Foggy Notion" and did Velvet Underground covers, including "Waiting For My Man" in the Banana album style. Nothing startling, but fun.
