The waist band and loops look a different colour too, I guess they tried to lower the rise?
That is cool, Young Ivy! I would even say groovy. I would wear that.
$40 but I'd bet that I could probably talk it down a bit. Reasonable eitherway.
Btw I'm elated to report that my recent Ranchcraft score is the one! After YEARS of searching, I've finally found the perfect jean. If there's such a thing as an "Ivy League" fit, this would be the definitive cut... and deadstock to boot! I couldn't be happier.

Cool. A good jean fit is difficult these days.
I vow to never wash to preserve every last cm of the rise.
If anyone comes across these old Penney's Ranchcraft or Foremost on eBay/Etsy, I highly recommend! Just double check the measurements as many have been altered or shrunk over the years. I've got a solid 12" front rise and 15" on the back (slightly better than Wranglers) for a pair of well-fitting 32s. The hems are 8" across making them a proper straight cut. They're an overall slimmer silhouette than the 13MWZs and the denim looks like it should age beautifully. I don't even need to hem, just rolled twice at the bottom for a nice thick selvedge turn-up. Should look good with everything from mocs to loafers and canvas cvo's.
Whoa! Very cool!
We'll see if it works... it's a mislabeled 40 that definitely fits smaller but it could be that the seller just doesn't know how to take measurements. He/she claims the shoulders are 17" which makes no sense and can't be. I compared it with a listing from one of Zach's old cord masterpieces in a 40, and it definitely measures smaller all around, so I'm fairly confident and keeping my fingers crossed that it fits. Btw, did you get my email WM?
That's a wonderful bueffercoat man, if it doesn't fit maybe let me know. Haha.
Size 40 measurements from one of Zach's old listings:
Armpit to armpit: 23
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 19.5
Sleeve length from shoulder seam to cuff: 25
Length from top of collar to bottom hem: 36
Size 40 measurements from eBay seller:
Chest: 44
Shoulders across: 17
Center back length: 33
Something's definitely not right there, huh?
I figure the chest measurement is the easiest to not screw up (assuming it was measured flat) and if 22 (half of 44) is accurate, that would be a pretty good indicator of a size 38. My other Buffer coat (more recent label that was sold through O'Conell's) measures 18 inches across the shoulders, so here's hoping the 17 is just a typo in the listing! It's tagged a 40 (strangely) so it can't be too far off, however it turns out.
WM, I sent you a link to something via email a few days ago...
Hey Oli, be warned I find that Invertere tend to run large, I have a few. I hope this works out for you as it looks like a fantastic coat.
Thanks for the heads up, man. I think my other Invertere might've also been sized 40 but fit true to size 38, if memory serves. Fingers are crossed!
Big score, Stan.
Loving the NOS Tartan Stan.
