Oh my God I've seen the light! I've just set fire to my entire vintage foulards collection. Now to upload the videos to Youtube.

Re: How trad are Hermes ties? Euro-trad?

I haven't worn ties for work in a quite a while but I did a brief stint in investment banking in Houston (energy E&P banking), and Hermes ties were part of the uniform in our office. It was mainly the whimsical patterns like repeating animals or other objects that were popular. Of course I bought a couple at $100+ a pop and ended up selling them on eBay when I went to graduate school a few years ago.

This one would be good for staying at Fawlty Towers.

Re: How trad are Hermes ties? Euro-trad?

Lets bring the thread back to topic. There is a certain Euro tradness.

Good old Compton has had an article on it:

Re: How trad are Hermes ties? Euro-trad?

From the article: 'Suffice it to say that there is a correlation between lawyers generally being dull, introverted people, and a compulsion to display childish animals. I will also mention in passing that some accuse these lawyers of wearing their entire personality around their neck.'

Are novelty ties Ivy I ask? I've got a couple, one of which has little sharks on it, but generally I'm not keen. I don't even wear repp stripes as much as I used to, I'm gravitating toward low key foulards and small floral motifs more these days.

If critters embroidered on PRL trousers are Trad then there is space for Euro business1980ies trad. I will post more in the Trad section of FNB from now on.
