They are not too delicate for rain, although of course if they get drenched they will need to be stuffed with newspaper and left alone for over 24 hours - as with other leather shoes. Even on cooler summer days they are fine, and they work well with cords and flannels, but also chinos for those hotter but not scorching days. Get wearing them.

Indeed! from May to September are known as hot season then you have to skip these months and wear happily in winter , autumn ,spring  ..Actually thing is that if you live in Gulf countries its very hard to wear in summer...If not and live in European then you have a opportunity you may wear 4 season..

I never did like cordovan but i always thought their appeal was dealing with harsh, slushy northeastern winters?

If you look at the Alden traditional saddle oxford, that is not in any way shape or form a hardy winter shoe.

I walk a lot in my job and my Alden full strap cordovan loafers have become my de facto beaters. They look presentable long after they have become as comfortable as second skin.

Still wearing my old school Florsheim cordovan longwings - it's nowhere near hot enough for them to go into retirement imo. In another month or 2 they'll have their summer break.

The best cream is supposed to be that French one (Reno something) but I think any decent cream is fine.

What about the Alden shoe cream Shooey, I have this in #8 and is a winner - a small dab and instant nourishment and shine.

Update: dont wear cordos without socks.

Definitely NOT summer shoes.

That also means that their #8 cordo chukka boots are off the list (for the "one-day-walk-around-London" purpose).

My cordovan Florsheim Royals longwings (from the 90s) get lots of wear and show no signs of deterioration whatsoever. Nor do I have problems walking long distances in them. And they have leather soles.

I sometimes wonder about you lot.

Maybe I did not express myself correctly. I have no temperature problems walking countless miles in my cordovan shoes. Maybe it's the fact that you're doing lots of walking in slip on shoes that is the problem?
