Where do I find Trench Coat fabric?
Where do I purchase trench coat fabric for the classic look?
Would you recommend a cotton gabardine or a mix?
Finding quality selvedge denim on ebay is easy but in this case, seaching for cotton gabardine brings about a flood of low price fabrics.
Your help would be highly appriciated!

My tailor made me a lightweight raincoat a few years ago in a wool gabardine that's light and strong, I'll have to re ask him what fabric he used.

Film Noir Buff, that is exactly the kind of page I was looking for. I also bookmarked Acorn fabrics that you mentioned earlier. Very nice shirting there, indeed.
However, there is a slight green tone in their "stone solid" trench coat fabric that remind me of either the movie "Match Point" or a french detective in the 70´s. Good connotations indeed but i´m looking for a more beige/camel tone. I been searching ebay further and although the advert itself doesn´t look too sassy, could this be a suitable fabric?

I used to favor, years ago the double-breasted trench. These days, I'm a fan of the single breast with fly front. I'd love to do a bespoke rain coat. A little flash maybe. Maybe too indulgent. But hell, what's left. I'm not as interested in other things these days save the occasional odd coat. Hm, what would be the ideal rain coat? It's probably already there with the ol' Burberry or Aquascutum. I saw some cuts of Baracutta that I liked too.

You are right we can easily find the quality on EBay but with high rates as I tried a lot to find the best rates for trench coat fabric but the rates were so high that I cannot afford.

Tan works fine with my work suits which are largely dark colours. However I have a morbid fear of the 'pensioner look' i.e. being dressed from head to toe in different shades of beige - so I wear a navy blue Aquascutum with khakis or light coloured clothing.
