Settle to Carlisle

Done it on an ordinary train. Still need to see the Ribblehead viaduct from below though.

I have a pal who was on this service. A 'gricer' , as they are known.

Ah, Gods Country and my family home, the train passes at the end of my dads garden. Regularly cycled up into Hawes around Ribblehead and Malhamdale, lovely area but way too quiet for me - just give to head back and visit on occasion.

A lovely part of the world indeed. My pal told me Appleby was frantic with all the train buffs. He made a dash for the pub. I suppose the horse fair is as bad as it gets for Appleby folk. Train buffs will be better behaved than gypsies.

So many stations that look worth a stop, but a car would then be useful to get around. Might be a bit quiet unless you were a walker.
