new acquisition = $20 pair of '60s mint NOS with tags work jeans from Sears Roebuck, blue with white stitching, Thee Captain would very much approve

Beautiful jacket, Chip. I think something like horn would do it right, though.
I see that Orvis still offers a jacket they call by that misnomer, silk tweed. It appears to be a two-button, darted jacket, but I would bet it's still a good one.
Update on my J. Crew Baracuta G9 purchase: I find that sizing often is a pain in the keister, and so my advice to anyone considering this jacket... size up. I would normally go with a 42. Based on reviews, I went with a 44 and it feels perfect. For comparison, I also ordered a 46 and, while it fits, I find a looser fit in the Baracuta causes the jacket to lose some of its style, i.e., it needs to fit ever-so-slightly snug to look right, in my opinion.
/\ and if you ever need to resole them rest assured Sidney that Bean does a nice job, the combo of old uppers and new rubber looks great, I had to replace the soles on mine after many years, but they came back good as new
