You know now that Shuman has been proved to be correct they really ought to un-ban him over in Tradland.
Don't you think?
Harry's a troll.
That's what you asked might be the case.
You were right.
Harry as a shill for BS is/was a popular theory.
But if he was why was he so crap at it?
He didn't even know Silver's history & made an ass of himself over the fact.
If you actually know this style of dress then 'Arry makes no sense.
He's just some loopy little obsessed kid. We need to get over him & move on. He was useful once. He isn't anymore.
Best -
j.
I like 'Arry.
Yeah. In rereading the monster thread, I realized that I had been posting longer than others like Coolidge, etc. Not that it means anything, but I guess I have seen some changes.
I wish the boards had stayed more pure, but most of the originals have left, and its been taken over by fringe elements and Southern Trad wannabe's. Not that there is anything wrong with that look, but its not Trad.
By Harris' own definition, his version of Trad is different than what we would all call Ivy.
Maybe we need to create a MB for Ivy clothing?
One of my questions is in regard to the use of color. The bold use of color in the Trad community is more HarrisTrad than true Ivy, and I dont think anyone argued the contrary.
As H states, Lime green cords are Trad, while brown cords are...just another pant. I disagree. The same brown cord in plain front with cuffs could be winter Ivy. The bursts of color seen in pure Ivy are reserved for the accessories, not the main pieces of the wardrobe.
Those more familiar with the look than I, am I correct?
All of this makes me want to cry...
Like a virgin...
For the very first time...
Michael you wouldn`t be trying to resurrect the Gay trad thread would you?
Certainly not, look at what happend to the last person who started a thread like that. I mean Madonna is so gay, but that's ok, everyone is accepted here. Just so you know, I'm not gay, I never have been gay, tap, tap, tap.
Michael I love ya-you`re sense of hummour really reminds me of a guy I once tried to bugger at boarding school ( it was an experimental phase ok)
Cheeky, no harm in experimenting, sometimes good things happen. How do you think I found out about the TRAD - LOL
Worth saying - I'd love 'Harris' back (under another name so nobody would bother him).
I'd hate to lose his good taste, knowledge & knack of sourcing new suppliers of all the old Ivy/Preppy things we both love.
There are no Trad wars -I'd like Harris back improving on the old Trad with the rest of us.
Really.
David
David, do you know Harris?
The thing is - No.
He was just gold dust.
And I owe him a lot.
You might even be him for all I know - But that's cool. We are all on the Net. after all...
'Arry was... what he was. And that's OK.
You're different to him even if you are the same chap.
You seem to have more spunk.
Bravo!
d.
