I notice that LL Bean now do a global shipping program where all duties/taxes are calculated at the checkout, so one of their Crew Neck Atheletic sweats is around the £39 mark, pretty reasonable IMO.

I'm looking for a sweatshirt with raglan sleeves and the the classic v-detail, any tips?

Some of the LVC sweats are well made and worth checking out, as are Pike Bros. If you have a good budget Gymphlex do a decent one too but the cheaper ones have a chest logo, sometimes these come up at TK Maxx

The LVC are lovely but pricey (and rarely turn up at a discount ) ,
Uniqlo do a decent sweatshirt for not much cash.

Thanks for the suggestions: Sunspel, Gymphlex and Pike Bros unfortunately do not offer both raglan sleeves and v-detail. The LVC looks like its very well made, although it seems more of a boatneck rather than a crewneck. Uniqlo's sweatshirt ticks all the boxes but looks a little cheap from the product photos on their website.

I stretched my budget a small bit last year and acquired a couple of Hinoya sweats direct from Japan. Raglan sleeves, V-neck detail and woven on vintage looms. The burgundy in particular is a favourite of mine - after a mere handful of washes it has faded beautifully. Including shipping, it worked out at about £70 a sweat which I don't think is too bad. Two Moon are another of the same ilk. along with the afore-mentioned McCoys. If you are willing to grub through Yahoo auctions Japan and Rakutan, there are loads of bargains to be had.

Now then.  A bump. 
I bought a grey sweatshirt from 'American Classics' back in 2011.  They told me it was made in Germany.  It wasn't.  It was actually made in Turkey.  About £70 or £80.  I think I wore it twice, partly because I never have been able to get along with a crew or round neck.
Bean I haven't looked into, but last week I bought, for just over £10, one of those hefty, navy, small tag on the left hand bottom, made in the USA Russell Athletic jobs.  And I'm as pleased as punch with it.  It has a v-neck so took a bit of searching for. 
I'll probably never find another like it.  Poly/cotton, though.

Cotton, Robbie, or poly/cotton?  Just I'd made my mind up to go back into their Nottingham store and be called 'dude' by the sales assistant again, AUS posted that the place has closed its doors.  Indeed it did.  I passed by a few weeks ago and it was being rapidly transformed into something else.
