Is anyone using Harris, Trumpers etc?
I have been using DR Harris's "Arlington" after shave since 1997. After a long break, I recently bought a new bottle. Gone is the ice cold, steely blitz of citrus. Now it smells like think fern oil. Arlington was my "summer" scent whereas "Bay Rum" was for winter.
Anyone else here interested in perfumes and how they relate to clothing?
I am very much interested in fragrances, Beeston - am especially partial to the Eau D'Italie and Frapin lines.
I used the Arlington aftershave quite frequently myself, for about 7 years. I mainly stopped because it was more convenient for me to buy Proraso aftershave, and I kind of like its cheap vetiver barbershop scent despite myself. Real shame to hear Harris has gone downhill. Incidentally, I also use Bay Rum frequently in the winter. In particular, I've been using Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails, a darker smelling one, with some (I believe?) added Pepper Oil for a bracing burn. I find the extra warmth welcome in the Canadian winter.
I used that Dr Harris aftershave. Smells like cleaning fluid.
It used to be a sparkling clean fresh citrus scent, but they changed the formula.
As reported in the personal grooming/facial hair post, I use their Windsor shaving soap and eau de toilette. The scent lasts on me almost all day, so no complaints. To be fair I’m new to DR. Harris products, only having obtained my first bottle of Windsor about four years ago.
And while we are at it - Flores never worked for me. I guess they used to be decent traditional English scents until someone decided to Burberryrize them and give them a fashionable/ironic twist.
