Chicago suggestions

Hello forum,  long time avid reader and ivy fan wondered if anyone might be able to offer suggestions about Ivy shopping, places to visit in Chicago (my first trip in November). Thanks

Re: Chicago suggestions

Welcome to the forum, gorilla... Good to have a herbivorous ape around...

The Jazz Showcase... Lots of other jazz clubs...

I'd be interested to hear about any trad clothing options in Chicago aside from Brooks Brothers. From everything I've read, there isn't much in the way of vintage shops there that offer much trad/Ivy... Chicago rarely turns up, either on clothing labels, or in yearbooks, or in general histories of this kind of clothing...

That said, it's a cool city with lots to offer.

Welcome, gorilla!

just out of curiosity, are you more of a Grape Ape guy, or do you prefer Magilla Gorilla, King Kong, Mighty Joe Young, or Koko, or are you down with all of these iconic gorillas?

My bet is you like them all.

Blue Chicago for live music.
So many great bars. I like First Draft on South Clark. Get the chicken pot pie.
Clothing wise, not much to recommend that I know of. At opposite ends of the clothing spectrum Ivy-adjacent things can be found at Paul Stuart and Uniqlo

Re: Chicago suggestions

Chicago has wisely preserved many of its art deco skyscrapers. You can see a lot of them by walking The Loop. Hire a bike and rude or even ride the Lakeshore Trail to the Museum of Industry. If you like Frank Lloyd Wright then book yourself on a tour around the subuarb of Oak Park where there is the greatest concentration of FLW houses anywhere
