Shohei Ohtani, first player since Babe Ruth in 1919 to hit 15 homers and pitch 50 innings in a season.
Thank you, Stan.
you're welcome buddy, it's always somewhat unbelievable when a great old ballplayer from your youth passes on ............
Fun NYT article about the Swine Bowl in Central Park...

been to eight Dodgers games in nine days with two more coming up, a very long home stand,, but it's been quite fun, baseball is its own universe, a beautiful game .....
Although I've seen only one buttondown oxford cloth shirt so far, I have actually worn pure '50s casual frat Ivy to every game: a crewneck cotton sweatshirt over a cotton t-shirt, a pair of USA-made 5-pocket blue jeans in a 501 cut, made of Cone denim and bought from catalog put out by a now-defunct farm supplier, and either a pair of Converse All-Stars or a pair of old Bean blucher mocs ....
California nights were made for cotton sweatshirts and hoodies
^ Nice work stan, jealous of the ball games, as a New Englander it's been hard being marooned out here in New York... You can't even get the Red Sox on the radio!
Moving out to the Worcester MA area soon, and as luck would have it the Pawtucket Red Sox are moving there in 2021, so I have some good minor league games to look forward to in a couple years... Plus commuting distance to Fenway...
A buddy of mine has been laid up with a herniated disc, bought him a Pawtucket Hot Wieners cap to cheer him up... I do love minor league teams, it's a universe within a universe...
/\ fab shot of Bouton in Ivy B_B! thanks
Some great pictures here thanks Breathesman. Especially the O'Connell, Lucas and Chelf one, a real Ivy connection there. I believe O'Connell gradually bought the other two out before eventually selling to the family who own O'Connell's now. I've got a couple of their shirts with the old three name labels in them, bought brand new deadstock from the store a few years back.
What year is the photo of Bowie and DiMaggio from? Shows just how big he was, since Joe was aroujd 6'2" and weighed at least 200lbs, maybe a little more (but not much) here, with a huge chest and shoulders.
