I like a heavy Budapest last casually with jeans or heavy tweed pants.  How do the Dinkelacker shoes compare to Vass quality and construction?

Cordovan is a material I have soured on over the years.  Won't buy any more and am thinking about getting rid of all the lace ups and boots.  Will keep the loafers since I only have one other pair that fits well.

I've got a couple of pairs of cordovan shoes, one by Allen Edmonds and the others by Church's. They're both less than ten years old so I can't give any personal opinion on the long, long term durability of the material, but it does seem to keep looking good longer than calf. Despite this I can't help feeling that it one of those materials that is fetishised because it is expensive and the supply is limited.

One of the things that first attracted me to cordovan was less maintenance.  This is true but what I found was they always looked OK but just couldn't compare to the level of properly shined calf.  For me it is worth the extra effort to care for the calf shoes.
