I'm a fan of the present day Squeeze. They have listened to what their customer base want, got to grips with the shoulders on their jackets and suits and have largely gone back to stocking traditional items. Brooks on the other hand appear to be oblivious and are becoming just another Italian style men's outfitters.
In recent years I've bought a couple of suits and jackets from J Press when on holiday in NY and I am very happy with them. I have to admit that I wait until their sales which are excellent. Personally I can't countenance paying $900 for a sports jacket even if I really like it, but make it $500 then I'm more tempted.
New York has been wobbling on the brink of warm(er) weather as the temperatures have hovered in the high 50s and the skies have been uniformly gray... Once it starts getting into the 60s it's a slippery slope to the 80s and 90s... Some nice flowers coming up though to remind me that summer really is on its way... Took a break from staring longingly at my madras and poplin to get dressed in a blue lambswool v-neck sweater, tired old white LL Bean 60/40 blend OCBD with wide-set blue stripes (not suitable for for anything but wearing under a sweater or at home), Belted Cow 4x4s motif belt, uncuffed Bill's khakis, Wigwam 625s, and penny loafers...
Just bought some replacement leather insoles for a pair of MIUSA Sioux Mox camp mocs (sans insoles) I picked up recently to replace derelict boat shoes. Also in the mail are some thin terry cloth insoles to support sockless loafer wear in the heat, as I tend to sweat like a pig, as I've probably mentioned far too many times before... Taking my last seersucker jacket, the Haspel I mentioned in the Ivy finds thread, to the tailor next week, then I'll be all set for the heat when it finally shows up...
