Community Clothing

Wondered if anyone had actually bought or tried on any of their clothes?
Really like the idea of the project and the pricing isn't too bad.

Re: Community Clothing

Yes I'm curious too (no Goodyear not that sort of 'curious'). The chinos sound and look good from the discussion and measurements on the other thread.  There are a few other 'Ivy' friendly items I would be considering if I didn't already have those pieces e.g. Peacoat, M65 etc. Everything seems reasonably priced and I particularly like the fact that it's all made in the U.K. including Scottish knitwear.

But there's nothing like seeing the stuff for real.

Re: Community Clothing

The only reason I did not buy their chinos is, the shipping is pretty expensive to Austria - and the sizes I need are always out of stock. Apart from that I would say it all looks promising, especially the chinos, Peacoats, knitwear and the selvedge denims... and I like the idea itself.

Re: Community Clothing

Bought a pair of the chinos this afternoon. Pretty impressed - 50 quid, made in UK.

Rise on a pair of 34 x 34 about 13", hem probably ~8 1/2"ish. Hoping that I can get a proper cuff on them too, which is pretty necessary on a slightly more relaxed fit, I think.

Will post a photo over the next few days, once they've been washed. Also picked up some of their hiking socks for 4 quid or so.

Re: Community Clothing

I like the look of the chinos but I don't understand why they only do 32/34 length legs it seems which are too long for me.

Re: Community Clothing

Had a look today but just bought some socks, the camp shirt (no L on store but might get online) is nice and and the chinos are basic but a nice width. Felt a bit tight for me in a 34 though.

Number 6 shop nearby has some cheap items from English brand Several who seem to have gone out of business, very similar but slightly better finish and details.

Re: Community Clothing

Oh yeah, totally forgot - I'll get a photo up later on today.

On the whole, pretty pleased - decent rise, decent cut, material sufficiently heavy, good price.

Re: Community Clothing

No worries - sorry again for poor photo.

Not especially so, no. Somewhere in the middle, perhaps?

Re: Community Clothing

Listened to a Hand Cut Radio interview with the owner, it was really good. He started out on Saville a Row IIRC.

Re: Community Clothing

Anyone know what the sizing is like for Community Clothing? According to their size charts, medium is more like small, meaning I need to order large. Especially since they may shrink a little. But I'm a medium in every other brand past and present, so it feels a little odd ordering L.

some sort of banal legitimacy

Re: Community Clothing

My chore jacket was a medium and I was worried it might be a bit tight but it's a good fit with a jumper underneath. I will be very careful if I ever wash it as I suspect it could shrink. Very well made.

Re: Community Clothing

I expect shrinkage would depend on the garment Yuca, but the charts are accurate. I’m a Large with most British makers but the Medium sweatpants I bought from them were, as the chart predicted, enormous. But after a couple of washes they shrank, mainly in length, and are now a nice comfortable fit. The Medium lambswool crew neck sweater fitted me well.
