welcome Tim F., I'll be wearing a green C-buckle Brooks belt almost exactly like that one to a graduation ceremony later today, love those C-buckles, wish there were more about!
yesterday for the family was graduation day with various parties, there was a bit of the old prep to be seen courtesy of me and a couple of other (very old) Hotchkiss School Yalies whose progeny were also graduating ....
when you're very old the Ivy Prep is a great look
I'm not there quite yet and I was in the position of helping some true codgers navigate steps, gravel driveways, stepping stones, and avoiding mishaps ....
nobody was helping me though and I could barely walk having overdone it in the pool a couple of hours earlier
it was a scorcher yesterday in the mid-90s though and after the long graduation ceremony I had to throw down a couple of Dark and Stormies to cool off so things got very chill very fast but I kept my sport coat on ....
green and blue unlined madras sack sport coat, light gray tropical wool trousers cuffed from O'Connell's, blue end-on-end bd from O'Connell's, brown Alden penny loafers, gray wool J. Press socks from England, dark green cotton surcingle brass C-buckle Brooks Brothers belt USA, orange USA cotton bandanna just in case
had a good conversation with a young Yalester family friend in which I divulged a few helpful hints with the admonition to not give out the info willy-nilly as it were
some of our fave Take Ivy and Seven Sisters people were there but this particular school is progressive even for California so a nice wholesome time was had
saw a pair of white bucks, also some blue blazers, repp ties, linen trousers, and button-down collars, plus a pair of Wallabees worn by an 80+-year-old brother of one of our most iconic Ivy Preps
so many little kids I've known their entire lives, now grown up, came by the table to spend a bit of time with me, it was very heartwarming, but I stayed put to keep the really old wrinklies company so they wouldn't feel neglected .....
one of those days that was exactly like a William Hamilton cartoon in the New Yorker
----------------
today is back to normal in a pair of ancient but clean and neatly mended navy poplin J. Press walk shorts from 2003, a black Gildan New Mexico t-shirt, black rubber Scott Hawaii flip-flops with brown grosgrain ribbon, Peter Fondaesque Oakley sunglasses with brown lenses
about to change into custom green frogskin camo Birdwells, own vintage circa 2010, for a swim, it's summertime
Congrats stan, you must be very proud... Sounds like a great time! That madras sounds beautiful, as does the ceremony and ensuing revelries... Hope you enjoyed the swim, I'm very jealous of you out there on the West Coast
Spent most of the day lying around on the couch but ended up going out for the evening in cream-colored J. Press linen/poly jacket, R. Hanauer madras bow tie (this one https://bowties.com/products/madras-b3971), 6-button blue Makers, Belted Cow navy surcingle belt, O'Connell's gray tropical wool trousers, and MIUSA Dexter penny loafers (recently recovered from being absolutely drenched in a thunderstorm)...
Looking good Woolie, what are the slacks?
Woolster - cool as ever! Some things don’t change!!
YI - two very strong looks there mate. 505s look like such a good fit!
