Its that time of year when I start thinking about treating myself to a new add for a new season. I quite fancy a brown POW or Glen check. Something along the lines of this; https://www.themerchantfox.co.uk/products/camel-glen-check-jacketing?_pos=2&_sid=76095191a&_ss=r
Anyone seen anything like this they could suggest?
Or for that matter is anyone thinking of getting something new for fall/winter, either made up or RTW?
Post it up, lets chat clothes.
Not really my thing but this is funky detailing...

I'm sure the quality will be great, and by all means enjoy whatever you want to enjoy... I just make it a personal principle not to pay higher than workwear prices for workwear That said, I'd rather pay more for some MTO workwear that I like simply as a style garment and will wear purely as such, than for an off-the-rack piece of Carhartt or whatever that's simply being marked up to capitalize on a workwear trend...
Indulgences are what this forum is all about... Like putting darts in sack jackets (okay, that was the last time - especially now that I know you have woof on your side... )
I wasn't in my mid-20s in 2008, interpret that how you will...
Intersection with military stuff is interesting too. Shia TheBeef popularized the N*ke SFBs, then Kanye started wearing the issued-style boots (which I never liked the way Kanye wears them - they only look good trashed, in my opinion. I usually wore the Rocky S2Vs anyway). Then Rothco got trendy, which I think is hilarious because their stuff is pretty bad quality. No one I knew in the Army was buying Rothco. And now you can go on Etsy and buy an old liner for the M65 for, like $100 - never mind that you can buy one on eBay new for $5. And never mind that it's an issued item - soldiers don't even pay for it, like boots. I guess when hypebeasts start wearing the UCP ACU pattern as a trend things will have finally hit their peak...
I'm all for workwear - I wore it when I was a carpenter, and I thought it was comfortable and looked good in its own way for sure. I'm also all for military-inspired stuff - again, I wore it and thought it looked great, especially the new uniforms. I still think the old OD stuff from Vietnam is some of the most stylish clothing ever designed - the slant-pocket blouses especially. They should bring that back, not the pinks and greens. But part of why I liked workwear and military stuff as an actual wearer of it, not as fashion items, was the extreme comfort and the way the clothes evolved and became a representation of lived experience - they faded, they frayed, they scuffed, they wore. That was the coolest part, to me, and so I guess I've never been drawn in by the more #menswear side of workwear and military wear because the emphasis isn't on wear and tear and fading and fraying. But it's one reason why I do like wearing Ivy stuff - it slouches, it wrinkles, collars and cuffs fray.
I do have a high-speed Patagonia camo top from their military line, though (they make a lot of high-speed low drag stuff for Seals and MARSOC and SF). I took all the Velcro off and it's a pretty cool jacket. It has button closures rather than velcro or zippers, which is a plus.
I'm wandering this thread away from the topic, sorry. I do like that fabric a lot, GW - I like the hint of teal (on my screen, anyway). I've seen very similar fabric jackets in yearbook photos from the late 1960s, worn with white OCBDs and dark emblematic ties.
Wander away Beeb, its not Beestons thread.
Yes I don't think that cloth would have looked out of place in Drakes lookbook from last fall which had an Ivy feel about it...very trad English looking cloth. Cords, tie with ducks on and a pair brogues. Soft shoulders, 3/2 will give it an easy Italian/Ivy vibe and a BD shirt. Bit of a mish mash, just a bit too slouchy to be seriously formal.
Think I'll pop in and get it started today.

I like the merchant fox fabric a lot better.
Just went for a brown the same tone, half lined. The cloth looks to have more yellow in it in the picture, its quite a bit darker in life. Their linings are all just plain colours. I quite fancy a lining with ducks on or hounds but can't find that online. The buttons are horn, marbled kinda things. I'll post a picture when its made but ETA is October 23rd. I did see a wonderfull medium blue checked cloth which I think I'll have a suit made in.
A pucci style print would be nice.
However these could work too: T134 Electric camouflage in blues, T141 Psychedelic Viscose, T1015 Eye/hand Purple with wild Dali-esque images. Frankly, even T591 BLUE NAVY SPOT would be better than a plain navy lining. A blazer should be a bit collegiate.

I kind of like the checkerboard buttons from Clegg https://bensonandclegg.com/collections/blazer-buttons/classic-buttons
No antique brass
