A friend of mine put me on to the Knockando Mills in Scotland, particularly their Strathspey tweed. As I understand, it is substantial, but has a softer hand than a Harris tweed, for example. Regardless, I really love the dyeing work here, just lovely stuff.

You compare it to Harris Tweed but it's very different cloth. The Knokando being a power loom woven dense tweed - a Cheviot Tweed would be a closer comparison.
It's an excellent tweed & far more appropriate for hard use than the looser woven Harris - but Harris of course has it's own fine qualities.
